Project Value: £480,000

Project Detail:

Sangwin were first recommended to assist the school (as FF&E consultants), via the local authority on the back of previous successful project deliveries in and around the area. The school had funding to essentially build a new academy but had no or little budget for the FF&E package.Over 18 months Sangwin worked directly and closely with senior management at the school to help design and value engineer the best possible FF&E solution. The end result – the school were very happy with the FF&E installation as it opened its doors for the first time in September 2013.

Re: St. John’s C of E VC School, Epping. As we approach the final stages of the new build, I thought it would be opportune to give you some feedback on the partnership that we have had with Sangwin over what now is close to three years! You will be aware that in the emergent stages, we worked very closely with Patrick Moran in developing the design of each internal space. Although Sangwin were in fact working “at risk” for almost two years, Patrick worked unstintingly, giving freely of his time and expertise to ensure that the ideas we discussed became a reality. His skill and expertise in the design field was fundamental to the success of the final designs. Patrick established very good, proactive working relationships with staff and was able to open up dialogue to ensure that he completely understood the specific needs of our school, of curriculum areas and more importantly, was able to respond to the constraints within the room specifications.

Patrick was able to suggest many examples of other schools/academies where Sangwin had won FF&E contracts. I personally must have visited at least seven of these organisations either directly with Patrick or facilitated by him. This part of the process cannot be underestimated as it enables the client to visualise design concepts and consider the suitability for their own organisation. This process helped us to return to our own designs and re-think our ideas, with concrete examples from which to draw. It is now truly heartening to see such amazing designs throughout the school. Patrick has certainly captured what we believe to be a unique and special ethos. The learning environment looks absolutely stunning and is totally reflective of our design concept. This would not have happened without his involvement.

In the later stages, we had more involvement with Craig Hardy. Craig was able to give us excellent advice and guidance in selecting materials to meet the needs of the specification. Craig demonstrated a high level of technical expertise and we were able to see that quality products underpin everything that Sangwin represents.

As you know, our budgets were severely restricted. Therefore, we were under pressure to select an FF&E partner who provided value for money, yet most importantly – a quality product. Craig was able to give tried and tested examples of specific products, most of which had 10 year guarantees. Although not the cheapest!, it was obvious that in selecting Sangwin, we would be in partnership with a reputable company, established over many years and with highly experienced staff. We have absolutely made the right choice.

Nick, I would recommend Sangwin without reservation to any other educational organisations based on two key factors; one is the quality of the product and the second is the business relationship we have developed, which has been exceptional.

I would also like to commend and thank your Site Team for their unstinting efforts and good humour in ensuring a professional job.

Finally, many thanks and kind regards
